The precision machining company Meta Tec, Inc. in Lacon, USA, has purchased and has in operation, one of the largest WENZEL bridge-type CMM sold and installed in the United States. The Model LHF 30.60.20 is a travelling bridge-type measuring machine with a 3 meter x 6 meter x 2 meter measuring range capable of measuring very large housings, engine blocks and large off-road type equipment frames and large fabricated frame attachments. For the new LHF they purpose built a 1200 sq. ft. room-within-a-room to provide a temperature-controlled facility (Fig. 1 + Fig. 2). It was designed with rails in the floor so that large parts could be easily moved in and out on carts, as well as grouped, so multiple parts could be positioned for measuring in sequence. At Meta Tec, the objective is to inspect parts around the clock so results can be reviewed each shift.
