New IHK President | Dr. Heike Wenzel was elected to head the board

The IHK Aschaffenburg has a new president. At its constituent meeting on Thursday, 17 February in Martinushaus Aschaffenburg, the new plenary assembly elected Dr Heike Wenzel to head the body. The 50-year-old Managing Director of WENZEL metrology GmbH, Heigenbrücken, succeeds Friedbert Eder, who did not stand for re-election to the Assembly. Friedbert Eder had been IHK President since 2014. He continues to be an honorary member of the IHK plenary assembly.

The Universal exaCT U Computer Tomography

Case Study on the Measurement of Tiny Turbine Blades

The aero engine is one of the most critical components that uses the most complicated technologies and with the highest manufacturing difficulty in the aircraft. For example, the typical turbofan engine consists of 1 stage of fan section, 13 - 14 stages of compressor section and 8-9 stages of turbine section, which includes up to thousands of blades in total. The blade height differs greatly from nearly 1000mm of the fan blade to less than 20mm of the blade of the high-pressure compressor at the final stage.

Granite as Foundation for High Accuracy Measurement

The use of granite in 3D coordinate metrology has already proven itself for many years. No other material fits with its´ natural properties as well as granite to the requirements of metrology. The requirements of measuring systems regarding temperature stability and durability are high. They have to be used in a production-related environment and be robust. Long-term downtimes caused by maintenance and repair would significantly impair production. For that reason, WENZEL uses granite for all important components of measuring machines. (Image 1)
